OUR STORY

TYLER'S POV:

I remember the day after meeting Joty and thinking “I don’t know what it is but there is something I like about this chica”. After spending the previous night dancing, drinking, and grilling, I thought she was a really nice girl but it wasn’t until the following day, taking the train together, when I was starting to realize she was a special person. Between the cool sunglasses, style, and colorful free spirit, I was immediately taken. I could not wait to hang out again and that is exactly what we did. Having great nights going out dancing, attending speakeasys, live concerts, and going to the beach. Quickly, I was starting to really like Maria and knew she was going to be a longtime partner. Shortly after, we travelled to Europe and Colombia and started doing everything together. To this day, Maria continues to surprise me with her amazing charisma, drive, and creativeness. Always colorful and shining bright.

JOTY'S POV:

I just came back from Colombia to start studying English and take a fashion course. I was focused on learning what always was a dream for me, but what I didn’t know was that one day, lying in bed and without any plans, I was going to see my future husband for the first time. A mutual friend posted an Instastory and I, with so much confidence, asked her to introduce me to him. She asked Tyler if he was dating someone because a friend of hers was interested in meeting him. Tyler said yes after seeing a couple pictures of me and later that week, he went with his new Brooklyn friends to buy a bbq, food and beer to finally meet me in person.
That night, July 16th 2019, these two strangers, danced and chitchatted. The night ended and I asked Tyler to come celebrate Colombian Independence Day by dancing salsa in a bar in Soho. After that night, I knew Tyler was going to be someone special in my life. We started dating and I noticed that we could have seen each other before. Tyler’s job was right in front of the building I used to take fashion classes. We even used to grab coffee at the same coffee place and to go home, we took the same train line.
After 3 years together, living, traveling, dancing every reggaeton and salsa song, and going to Tylers rock and roll shows… we wonder if we were destined for each other.

THINGS TO DO

ALQUIMICO RESTAURANT

This place is something really special. Set within a beautiful mansion in the heart of Caragena, it offers three bars across three floors, with a different cocktail concept on each. The House-infused rums were Tyler's favorite the first time we went. If you want to get an unforgettable night in Cartagena, you gotta go there!

MAR Y ZIELO

Super stylish rooftop and restaurant for those that are all about the aesthetic. Perfect spot to dine pre-party as La Jugada and Alquimico are located nearby. Enjoy a full lunch or dinner at the rooftop, or just visit for some drinks, views and soft house beats from the live DJ.

LA SERREZUELA MALL

Enjoy a unique shopping experience while taking advantage of a wide range of cultural and gastronomic delights, surrounded by history, iconic architecture and design. In the heart of Cartagena, a World Heritage Site, lies La Serrezuela, a historic building and milestone of the city in the 20th century.
Our favorite to shop: Malva, Maaji, Velez, Carolina Herrera, Purificacion Garcia
Our favorite to eat: Crepes&Waffles, Andrés Carne de Res, Bastion Bistro, Misia, Habanera

JUAN VALDEZ

The most famous colombian coffee company. In any of the Juan Valdez spots you're going to find in Cartagena, make sure that you get something different every time. Our favorite is the coffee milkshake with a "dedito de queso" (a cheese pastry that looks like a finger), but every single coffee that is served there is just the best coffee that you will ever taste.

LOBO DEL MAR

It feels warm and the live music makes thing feel fun. Consequently this is one of the places we visit most frequently since we love the chicharron tacos, tuna tataki, the goats cheese salad, the stuffed calamari and the grilled octopus, but the fish ceviche and guacamole are a must.

MEKANI BEACH CLUB

if you are looking to experience Cartagena in a different way, Mekani is the place for you! They have different activities and classes to book. Their beach bar, right on the beach, serves healthy fresh juices and great smoothies as well as soft and alcoholic drinks. Enjoy the complete and healthy menu of the restaurant and sit and chill while watching the action on the water.

ETEKA BEACH LOUNGE

They are firm believers in the “Slow Life” cultural movement that promotes slowing down the fast pace of life, emphasizing the importance of FINDING OUR OWN PACE and not falling into the pressure of immediacy. The Slow Life movement prioritizes activities that seek the holistic development of the human being, such as walking on the beach, taking a trip for pleasure, turning off the cell phone, sharing with our loved ones, meditating, resting, etc.
